After many months of plannings, many travelwarnings, many parents warnings, many friend's warnings I finally got to go to Jakarta to visit a friend and I had the best time. I had been in Bali in 1998 and at that time, visiting Java was really unsafe so, I avoided and, after Bali I must admitt I did not come back home with a great impression of Indonesia. Finally this time I got to visit Java and a few small islands near Jakarta and I really enjoyed this beautiful country a lot. In Jakarta I also met the vter Rie(ukirsari) and her boyfriend, awfully I just met them for a short time as I did not plan a lot of my visit(as if I usually do)! More info in the travelogue! What can I say more about Jakarta? Contrasts, this city is full of them lights and darkness high and really small, fast japanese cars stopped for hours in the traffic exc. More or less one year after my visit I heard on tv about the bomb in the Marriot hotel, italian media in this period is incredibly bombing us with news about italian tourists dead abroad, one in Guatemala, one in Mexico and so on and this make me think again on how media can affect our lives, we can renunce going somewhere cause we heard it is dangerous, cause someone else who knows how and why, ended up in troubles or just met a weird wave and died, this makes me think again on how easy is for us hearing about the misfortune of a single that media want to put on our attention, missing the many people that went in the same place or live, in the same place and keep living, keep doing what they always did without thinking of being in a dangerous hell! I am one of the many people that went to Jakarta when TV was saying not to go and I witness my good experience and my hope to go back! |
