A nice colonial town

by xaver - last update: Dec 2, 2004

Phnom Penh is the the first city I visited in Cambodia, I arrived after the sunset and the dark hided, at my first view, all the colours and the noise that would have accompanied my few days there.

The morning after, thank to the motorbikes beeeeeeep beeeeep, I could wake up early and start wandering around this small town that finally was offering to me all its colours and its smells.
Then, visiting some historical places, the colours leave the space to the dark of the recent past.

What a sad, horrid period in history. Did enjoy your tips on Silver Pagoda and Wat Phnom [I, too, like their system]!

That’s a beautiful opening photo of the Royal Palace. I'm not sure I would want to visit the Killing Fields, but thanks for writing about them. It's important not to forget.
