Hello world! My name is Mike and finally I am a world traveller (long time comming). I will always be from Chicago but right now I am living in Prishtina, Kosovo in Serbia and Montenegro (though that is definately up for debate in these parts). My time in Europe has been rewarding and I don't see an end anytime soon. I work long hours so my travel time is limited, but I have been lucky enough to see many of the big cities in this part of the world. Hopefully this year I will make it to some destinations that are a bit off the proverbial beaten path, and I hope to keep everyone here posted.
I have found VT to be an invaluable guide in my travels so far, it is my primary source of information. When I find a page I really apprecieate, I usually cite it on my page as well. I feel that I should share with the readers what I found helpful and also give credit to the person who did the work. I hope this does not offend anyone.
When I travel I have to admit I am not much for seeing the sites. I don't have a checklist of museums I need to hit, I prefer to walk the city, meet some people, get an idea of life in the place. Of course that is really impossible in just a few days, but that type of info fascinates me more than a cathedral. Of course, I like to learn about a culture through it's treasures as well, just that learning about the people is my priority, not ticking things off a list. So my pages will probably have more information about people and common places, less about the big attractions.
It is difficult to balance perseonal anecdotes with information other travelers can use. I am finding my way. My goal is to have pages that are fun to read, but also give good tips. You can judge my success.
Take Care fellow VTers, enjoy all this site has to offer (and the world for that matter)!
