This ancient coastal town was also originally an island which was only connected with the mainland in the early 19th century. Until a houndred years ago Isola was primarily a fishing and farming (wine-growing and market-gardening) community. These days Isola is industrial and touristic town, one of my favourite in Slovenia. Most of the tourism is concentrated at the bay Simonov zaliv on the eastern side of Izola.

Izola! WOW, lovely coastal area, yachts, harbour, Italian architecture and I... can swim since I was there as a kid :-)))
