When in Moscow make doubly sure you have all your documents in order especially when visiting Red Square. The place is full of under paid cops who target tourists and ask for bribes if there is the slightest irregularity in your papers. I found it also pays to keep your ticket with you which shows how long you have been in Moscow as if it is less than 3 working days, you don't have to register your visa. This catches a lot of people out.
