Visa requirements to Burma

While in Bangkok, it is easy to order your visa and tickets through an agency. If you wish to go it alone, get yourself along to the embassy as early as possible to be in front of the queues. Office is open from 9am to 12pm and the waits can be long.
Take with you, your passport, 2 photos and 810 Baht for the 3 day service, add 240 Baht for the 48hr and 450 baht for the same day services.
This tourist visa is valid for 28 days.

It is also supposed to be possible to buy an e visa online. Check the website www.visa.gov.mm

Unbelievable beauty

Myanmar is an amazingly beautiful country. It is still very under-developed, and the simplicity of life is everywhere to be seen. Be considerate when aiming your camera. A simple question asking if they don't mind will always be appreciated. The children especially, will love seeing themselves on your digital camera after the photo was taken.

Buddism

Everywhere you go in Myanmar it seems there are temples and Budda statues. The Burmese are very religious and the Buddist beliefs are reflected in their friendly and helpful nature. Most temples are open to visitors and it is worth becoming acquainted with some of the more basic protocols when visiting these. Remove footware when on the temple premises and you'll find people will walk clockwise around the temples - I believe this is as a symbolism of keeping the 'unclean' left hand further from the holiest site.
