The 'J.R.' pass

There are several rail passes available now, but the J.R. pass seems to be the most comprehensive.
7 days cost 28,300 Yen
14 days cost 45,100 and
21 days cost 57,500 Yen

or for the superior class 'green' cars, 37,800, 61,200 and 79,600 respectively.

Ticket vouchers must be purchased before arriving in Japan, These are then exchanged for the JR pass when in Japan..
