Restaurant Name: Pamplemousse
Agraichen highly recommended this restaurant when we told him of our impending trip to Las Vegas. He spoke so highly of it, we knew we had to go. So we did!
Small and intimate, with friendly staff and magnificent French food.
We were greeted, seated and offered champagne framboise cocktails -- champagne with Chambord. Then the waiter came by and told us the appetizer menu for the evening -- there are no menus here. The waiters simply tell you what is being served that evening. Once we'd ordered our appetizers, the waiter brought a large basket salad vegetables and set it in the center of the table. It included a head of butter lettuce, radishes and strips of carrots, zucchini, cucumber and celery. Then came a dish of mixed olives provencal and warm rolls.
Because there are no menus, you have no idea of the price of the dishes. Being Vegas, you have to just expect that things will be expensive and roll with it. By the end of the meal, Mark and I were guessing at the price tag. We were both wrong -- the bill was MUCH less than we'd expected.
Thanks Al!
Favorite Dish: I had their house recipe of escargot (in a red wine sauce) as an appetizer, followed by pistachio crusted rack of lamb on a mild dijon sauce. Mark had the crab cakes in diablo sauce (not *too* spicy) as an appetizer, followed by sauteed prawns. Then we shared one of the best creme brulee I've had the pleasure to experience. The lamb was absolutely perfect, though I had to take half of it home with us -- I couldn't eat it all.
