...the perpectual tourist trap. But I say that in only the fondest way. This town has been a travelers stop for centures, and now it is mostly a living museum filled with expensive shopping, dining and hotels. There are, of course, some marvelous museums, the beautiful architecture to feed your eyes and soul, and still some out of the way places to explore.
I've now been there three times, and two out of three times, it was fabulous. My biggest tips: Make reservations for a hotel in advance -- do not make the mistake of thinking you can just arrive and find a hotel. And be prepared to drop a lot of cash. So long as your expectations are not that this will be a budget destination, you will have a terrific time. |
| | Expensive and very touristy... ...but drinks in Piazza San Marco are a veritible must for a special occassion. For the third trip, it was bellinis at Quadris for Mark's birthday. |
Find the off the beaten path places They do surely exist... dare yourself to get lost! | | |
