Marathon can be an excellent place to get a pitstop when you are traveling to or from Key West. Just to stretch your legs and look around at the shops...Even if you are not looking for souvenirs you wil find everything you need, just look for the mural on this picture.
We have done it a few times just a 15 to 30 minute break from the long trip to the Keys....

| Seven Mile bridge near Marathon |
|  | Some facts On Marathon you can find a 63.5 acre land tract called Crane Point Hammock. This is a important historical and archeological site in the Keys. Here you will find evidence of pre-Colombian and prehistoric Bahamian artifacts. It also was once the site of an entire Indian village.
