"A dutch isle of tranquility" Schiermonnikoog by mafootje

I went to this Island for the first time in the 36 years i am living in the Netherlands. The trip to the island ferry took us about 2 hours, we bought a ticket and took some pictures while waiting to board.

The boat trip takes about 30 to 40 minutes and after that your on an island which has very few cars and lots of nice places to enjoy the silence.

The island is a very popular destination for bird watchers. Weather or no weather these people are looking out for birds always. It isn't a party island as some of the other Dutch isles are and not so many boats a day go tho this island.

The island is ideal for walking, but also has many bicycle paths so you can spend a few hours walking or biking. Even on a crowded day there are many places which aren't.
