I have always admired vietnamese people but I started wanting to go to Vietnam when I saw the movies 'Indochina' and 'The Lover' , both of them showing french colonisation in Vietnam and with wonderful views ( Halong Bay and Mekong Delta ). So,because I was traveling alone,I bought the only packaged tour to Vietnam (via Thailand) available in Rio and stayed about a week in Vietnam visiting the north (Hanoi and Halong), the center (Danang,Hoi An and Hue) and the South (HoChiMinh City, former Saigon and Mekong Delta). I´ve found a wonderful country and people. I was really impressed by the guide´s personal story: He and his brother fought in the American war in opposite sides and almost killed each other visiting their mother! |
The classical tour I started visiting Hanoi, from there overnight in Halong and back to Hanoi. Next I went to the center, visiting Danang, Hoi An and Hue crossing Hai Van Pass. This area was my favourite, with ancient cities and temples. At the end I went to the South, visiting Ho Chi Minh City and Mekong Delta. |
