"Je me souviens" (I remember) motto of prov.Quebec Montreal is a popular destination in North America. It is a mix between both American and European culture. Montreal is a bilingual city but downtown separates the 2 cultures: English (West) and French (East) and the middle (downtown) is bilingual. This is approximate as there are bilingual people all over Montreal. Quebecers are very attached to their past. The old Montreal reflects that reality. |
The Old Montreal and the Notre-Dame church The Old Montreal is a unique site as it is one of the birthplace of America (along with Quebec city about 3 hours drive from Montreal). There is a lot of nice architecture, the ambiance, the nice restaurants and handicrafts being sold is way above average. A European flavor that will remind you of Europe. A must for anyone visiting Montreal. Here is a replica of a cathedrale in Paris, France. |

Montreal's architecture Montrel has its own style of architecture with houses stuck together as to keep warmer, greyish blue as a to remember the winter sky, a few step above the ground so that the snow won't keep the door from opening.... This is also where I live. |
