Restaurant Name: Alfreds Kro

The place is something between a café and a restaurant, with traditional wooden café interior that makes for an excellent atmosphere. The dishes I have tried so far have been excellently prepared, the steak was made to perfection, exactly the way I like it. Alas, the price tag for a good meal reflects the quality of the chef's craft.

The daytime menu offers more traditional junk food, however, and at 90 crowns for a hamburger plate (i.e. with fries and salad) puts the junk food section in the same price class as any other café in Norway.

Favorite Dish: So far the pepper steak, but I hear that the pizza is pretty good.

Directions: Take the road uphill next to the Esso gas station. Alfreds Kro will be the second house on your left, on the up side of the building. (Maras pub is in the basement)

Restaurant Name: Kaffegalleriet

Centrally located, and offering a great variety of warm drinks, you will never freeze at Kaffegalleriet, even when it's -40C outside. Unless, of course, you order a milkshake. But no matter what you buy, you will not regret it!

Favorite Dish: Hot chocolate. But that's because I'm trying to quit drinking coffee... oh, heck, I'll have another cup of that espresso!

Directions: Seriously, you can't miss it. It's downtown, almost directly on the main road, next to the grocery store, same building as the police station.
