Wisconsin is one of the most beautiful states--NO LIE!! Granted, it gets cold enough here to freeze hell over, but you get used to it. OKAY so this place isn't called the "Cheese State" for nothin'. And there are LITERALLY bars on every corner--for real--no wonder Wisconsin is rated among the top states for alcohol abuse!! If you like the outdoors, you will LOVE Wisconsin--Milwaukee has the best park system I have seen--no one even comes close. And we have the Packers!!!--This is truly America's Team. My father was born and raised here and as a child I moved back and forth btwn Wisconsin and Massachusetts til I was 8 and then it was Wisconsin til I left for college. It wasn't until I left that I realized what a truly great place Wisconsin really is. If you like the great outdoors, and can put up with the cold, then it is a great place to be. When asked by a friend what sorts of things should a tourist do, I had to stop and think...Wisconsin is more about experiencing nature's beauty and spending time outdoors. There are a nice blend of museums, sports and recreational activities, and of course, bars...who could forget the bars. Milwaukee is the Genuine American City. Located in Southeastern Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan, it is the largest city in the state and the 19th largest city in the United States. Milwaukee's name comes from the Native American name, Milliocki, meaning "gathering place by the waters." (Rent the movie Wayne's World for the Indian pronunciation) Sophisticated, without pretension, Milwaukee is bustling with over $1.9 billion of new and renovated tourism and hospitality amenities. Rich cultural roots. Outstanding architecture. Milwaukee celebrates diversity from its ethnic neighborhoods to over 20 major cultural festivals. Every year the city hosts the world's largest music festival, Summerfest, on the lakefront. Home to Genuine American icons, Harley-Davidson and Miller Brewing Company, Milwaukee is one of the most dynamic American cities. |
