I'm dedicating my Malaysia page to the Langkawi Island.
Langkawi sits at the crossroads of the Thai-Malaysian border within the Straits of Malacca and Andaman Sea. It is the largest of a cluster of 99 islands off the coast of Kedah. Renown for its steep legends and myths. One of which involves a curse brought upon the island by Princess Mahsuri who was sentenced to death in 1355 for adultery. Upon her death, she placed a curse that the island would remain barren for seven generations. Shortly afterwards Siam (now known as Thais) attacked Langkawi, killing, robbing and tearing down the island.
There is much new development and prosperity going around this island, that it brings evidence and belief that the curse has been lifted upon completion of its seven generation cycle.
Langkawi is also known to be one of the most beautiful island, blessed with natural landscape - its pearly white beaches, cascading waterfalls, rustic fishing villages dotting the coastline, scenic padi fields, lush flora and fauna offers amazing sights and sounds and birdlife, limestone hillsides and caves which combine to create an atmosphere of pleasure and recreation. Enough said I think, I could continue falling endlessly for this beauty piece call paradise. Let us now enjoy Langkawi . . . "Selamat Datang Ke Pulau Langkawi . . Welcome to the island of Langkawi" |
