VERDUN

The ancient door
Verdun is the "Capitale mondiale de la Paix"... Hope is still alive!
Memorial 1914-1918
Verdun it is, before all, the so-called "Great War" (1914-1918). The picture shows a memorial which is in the city center. Because of its shape, people here call it "Goldorak"...!

It's always easy for the great decision makers to deliver heroic words... and build memorials afterwards...

It's always painful for the soldier, whatever his nationality, to have his name on a "Monument aux Morts"...

Your travellogues are grand views of events that took place on this hard ground not so many years ago. The scars remain as you vividly point out.
