I visit this town three times a year at least, but I can't say I know it quite well. Babruysk is pretty old town (for Belarus) first mentioned in 1387. Its name town got from beavers (baber in Belarusian) which had been the real hosts of the woody Beresina river banks before men came there. Through years of its history Babruysk has always been a very important military point, and served to Belarusians, Polish, and Russians in different time until the USSR was proclaimed. Since then soviet government donated lots of money for industrial development of the town.
In Babruysk 227000 people live. Before the WWII the main nationality of inhabitants was Jewish (more than 50%). The war cut the population of the town from 84 thousands people to 28 thousands and ruined almost all buildings. That's why nowadays it's hard to find a sample of ancient architecture in Babruysk. The most famous is the remains of the old fortress (1812).
Is the town interesting for tourists? No, I don't think so. But its only my own opinion which is disputable.
