Why am I here? Just because I ENJOY traveling so much, and I think VT gives a great opportunity to get acquainted with a place before going there, because it contains loads of helpful information. Here on VT you can find many nice friendly people, and if you are lucky, even to make friends. :)

I am originaly from Minsk (Belarus), but not so long ago I moved to another place. My new hometown is Cascais (Portugal), wich I already know quite well too. I would be glad to share my experience with those who are curious to know a bit more about these two countries ;)

Hi Minchanka, I stayed in your beautiful town for 11 days in 1971 at Pensao Ricco on the waterfront, balcony facing East to harbor. Is it still there?

I´ve searced for accomodation i Cascais in mid-June, but it seems as there are no more than two places listed... of which none seems too interesting. .. I´ve heard that Cascais is a nice place - how come there are no guesthouses??

the informaion about visas and registering is very helpful, if chilling. Although I would very much like to visit my grandfather's country of origin ,as an American, it sounds a little too forbidding perhaps. It certainly gives me pause.
