We visited the castle on 7 September 2003.
It's a 16th century country house that once belonged to field marshall Maarten van Rossem. After his death, his cousin H. van Isendoorn completed the building. The Van Isendoorn family lived in the castle for about three centuries.

The dining room has a 17th century ceiling decorated with clouds and birds. The castle holds several pieces of authentic furniture, paintings, and 'a silver goblet made out of a coconut' (according to a book I consulted)

We were there on the occasion of our wedding anniversary, hence our motto "9(+1)" - that's nine years plus one day.
