I'm Egon. I'm a librarian working for a
university library in the Netherlands, and a freelance translator. As a translator I've been working behind my desk for agencies in India, Estonia, Egypt, Russia, China .... and in our spare time I like travelling a lot!

Heino, the Castle Nijenhuis, 18 February ; Planken Wambuis and the heath east of
Ede, Netherlands, 12 March.
Indonesia, an exceptionally beautiful and interesting country! We visited Sumatra, Java and Bali from 5 May to 3 June.
Bike trip
"Tiel to Eck en Wiel", 8 July
Bocholt and Gladbeck in Germany (NRW). We visited the
Erlebnisbad Bahia near Bocholt and the amusement park Movie World close to Bottrop, 27 and 28 July.
Kleve and Kalkar just across the Dutch border in Germany. We walked a stretch of 18 or 19 kilometers on 29 October.
Been to (2007):
Germany -
Münster, we spent three days in a hotel in Münster-Roxel and made excursions to Dörenthe, Tilbeck and the countryside west of Münster, the Castle Nordkirchen and the town of Münster itself - 7 to 10 March 2007
Germany - Thuringia. We'd been here before in 1997. Our hotel was on the edge of the Thuringian forest, in Friedrichroda. We revisited
Eisenach and the
Wartburg,
Erfurt (where Jennie accompanied her choir at the opera house "Alte Oper") and
Weimar - 19 to 22 April 2007.
Zutphen, where I visited the medieval Librije and the public library and went on a guided tour through the city centre - 26 April 2007.
Italy - Visited
Florence,
Siena,
San Gimignano,
Elba,
Pisa, and Lake Garda in May and June.
Enschede, the Netherlands. I attended a summer school on copyright at University Twente, 18 to 20 June 2007 (one of my colleagues brought her camera, so you'll find her pictures here)
Berlin - we spent the Christmas holidays 2007 in Berlin. Check my

Been to (2008):
Gorinchem, we did a walk of 21 kilometers to Leerdam, 9 February
Norway - we went by boat (Kiel - Oslo) in June and took our car with us, visited a friend of ours who lives up north alongside a fjord and returned by car through
Sweden, Denmark and
Germany. A wonderful and very exciting trip!
France - walking in Auvergne in September.
Been to (2009):
Texel - one of the islands in the Dutch Waddenzee. Believe it or not, we had never been there! Well, we've put things right this year and stayed on the island for a couple of days in March 2009. We drove back home through Friesland and Overijssel and visited my in-laws. It was an excuse to take the A7 ("Afsluitdijk"!) from Wieringen to Kornwerderzand, that was another long-cherished wish.
The United States of America - visited Washington State, Oregon and California 27 August - 18 September 2009!
