<I><font color=slateblue><B>Yes, Sarajevo. Is there a city in modern history that encountered a sadder fate? I don't think so. Sarajevo of ten years ago was a world apart from today's Sarajevo. Take any housing area, a street if you want, and try to trace everybody who grew up there. You're likely to search through the whole world... People were killed. People went away. New people came into a few houses left undemolished. Believe it or not, only 10% of its previous inhabitants stayed in the city! But Sarajevo lives on regardless. The spirit's still there. The multiethnicity remained, as unbelievable as it may sound after the war caused by just that - its nations turning against one another.

Anyway, why am I telling you this? I'm just a stranger, a tourist in the eyes of Sarajlije who saw me so kindly through my twelve hours or so in their city. If you ask them about what I just told you, they'll say, Leave it, it's history. Why not talk about the future? Darkness is just not what you'll see here even if you look hard.

All your comments are on the money. I ate at the same restaurant twice. Once with Bosnians and once without. There was definitely a different price!
