People ask me why I come here so often.
I reply: to exist.
---------------------------------------
So I went and existed again last August - this was my fifth visit already - to find my favourite place changed once more. Of course, cities change all the time, but none does it at such a pace as Berlin. The Berlin of 2000 was definitely not exactly the Berlin I originally discovered (and whose charm made me hooked to this day) - but isn't this just what we say about our long-term partners too, discovering we still love them and can't bear the thought to lose them at the end. Berlin's not an array of houses and monuments but rather a living organism which will have its moods - want it or not. But isn't it just what makes it so intriguing? |
