Phoebe's Restaurant: A pioneer on East Genesee St.

Restaurant Name: Phoebe's Restaurant
In Phoebe's early days it was a bit of a frontier adventure to visit. But now that the University has spilled down the hill and Syracuse Stage has taken off and The Genesee Grande Hotel replaces the tired motel up the street, Phoebe's is ready to rock and roll! . The menu is not a long one, but the cuisine is delicious and well-prepared!

1060 Restaurant at Genesee Grande Hotel: Excellent food in an elegant setting

Restaurant Name: 1060 Restaurant at Genesee Grande Hotel
There are three parts to this restaurant. The Bistro, which is in the soaring lobby, the Lounge [the bar with wide screen TV] and the smaller Tuscan room. All are very attractive. The menu is classic American with options from under $10 to over $20.
Favorite Dish: The dinner options are excellent, but I'm a sucker for the perfectly toasted NY bagel with salmon and the usual "sides" of capers and red onions. Along with the excellent orange juice this was a superb breakfast!

Restaurant Name: The Main Dining Room at Lincklaen House
The most formal dining option at the Lincklaen House is The Main Dining Room.
Favorite Dish: The signature popover [pictured] They are right to warn you to be careful as you can get burned by the hot air that escapes when you break into it. It comes with a delicious honey-butter. And you can have all you can eat :))))

BeatChick Mon Sep 5, 2005 18:18 UTC Lovely Syracuse page, Sal! So sad to hear about the Hotel Syracuse. I hate it when historical places are shut down. ~I’m a SUCKER for popovers! And your photos are beautiful! ~We, too, had the Erie Canal running thru Ohio thru Cincy to the Ohio River. | 807Wheaton Thu Aug 18, 2005 12:51 UTC These are great pages. Genealogy will bring me to Syracuse next summer. As a vacationer I want to see Skaneateles and Cazenovia. And the Erie Canal! Marcia | tini58de Sat Jan 1, 2005 13:13 UTC Wonderful page, Sally! Thanks for sharing! | matcrazy1 Mon Nov 29, 2004 21:55 UTC When I think of Syracuse I think, in contrast to Scott (herzog63) of sun, warm weather and... Sicily, Italy. Very good page and updates! |
