I grew up near Syracuse, so I can both sing the praises and complain about the "hub" of Central New York! I'll do more of both later:)

I just learned that the 80 year old Hotel Syracuse has closed its doors, probably forever. This led me to want to do some new tips on Syracuse using historical images. I hope you enjoy! |
Salt is what made Syracuse Salt was discovered nearby after the Revolutionary War. The industry tailed off after the Civil War, but Syracuse to this day is called the "Salt City".

Fayetteville is about 11 miles east of Syracuse on state route 5. Since I was a child it has grown from 2,000 to 20,000 in population. |
