48 Hours in Boston

It was a brief visit to see the "Americans in Paris" exhibit at the MFA/Boston and to visit with our Macedonian "daughter", who was in Boston for a conference. Other than the heat on the first day where I thought I was just going to melt into the pavement, the trip was a lot of fun.
.
I took the "T" for the first time in over 40 years and wa stunned to find that Scollay Square on the Green Line, currently known as "Government Center", had barely changed -- the triangular open space, the curve the trolley screeches around and I swear the trolleys weren't much different except for the air conditioning in the cars.
.
My Boston "world" ranged along Boylston St. from The Lenox Hotel [where I was staying] to the Boston Park Plaza Hotel where our "daughter" was staying, except for my trip on the "T" to the MFA/Boston for the exhibition.

Copley Square

The square is flanked by Trinity Church on one end and the Boston Public Library on the other. This is a reflection of the church in the John Hancock Tower taken as night was falling..

Boston Public Gardens

A lovely respite on a hot day and home to the famous swan boats.

Boston is another of those places I've been meaning to return to. Glad you had a nice visit there. How was the "Americans in Paris" exhibit?

Very nice page about Boston. I am going to the Vancouver VT meeting on Friday and I'll meet Kristi (Dabs) there. She is from Chicago.

We never made it to Boston when we lived on the East Coast, which is disappointing. It looks like you were able to enjoy some very nice dining while there. I would have loved absorbing some of the history--thanks for the tips, Sally.

an interesting page, Sally !Copley Station looks great with that iron-construction at the entrance and that restaurant-tip with the scallops in corn chowder makes me really hungry now !
