Naperville has grown from a 20,000 citizen farm town on the banks of the east branch of the DuPage River to a city of 133,000 and still growing. Unlike many other towns and cities Naperville still has a vibrant downtown thanks to some farsighted civic decisions. The "heart" of downtown Naperville is the Riverwalk, which has become the center of city-life. |
|  | The Teardown problem ... The fabric of old Naperville is being changed drastically as smaller houses are being torn down and replaced with over-large expensive mansions. It's great for the tax base I guess -- but rough on those people who have been long-time residents of the modest neighborhoods being hit by this phenomenon. See the t-log for more ...

This year it's farm animals! It all started with the cows in Zurich, then in Chicago -- then we had giraffes, bears and I forget ... in Naperville. NOW it's farm animals. You will see these thoughout the downtown area sponsored by various local businesses -- great "photo-ops" for the doting toddler's parent ;)
