Fabrile Gallery Reflections ...
Fabrile Gallery has been a mainstay on S. Michigan Ave. for many years. Now it is housed in the Santa Fe Building along with the Chicago Architecture Foundation & the store for The Chicago Symphony.
.
This picture was taken in the inner atrium of the Santa Fe Building.

I am one of those who hasn't been back since the changeover -- we shall see how long memories are -- but they may have misjudged when they rebranded the State St. Queen.
---------------------
This is THE Chicago department store -- no longer owned locally and overshadowed on the high end by Nordstrom and Bloomindale's, it still is the grand dowager of Chicago shopping.
.
The picture is of the atrium at Christmas time.
Address: State & Washington Sts.

The lines out the door, even in the dead of winter, tell the story,

Andrew Bae Gallery
This is our favorite gallery in River North. The owner is always willing to talk about the work he is exhibiting.
What to buy: The focus is on contemporary Asian art, predominantly from Korea.
What to pay: Prints can start at around $300 and it goes up from there.
Address: 300 W Superior St.

Located in the lobby of Water Tower Place, this florist looks more like a botanical display than a shop!
.
This store is an outpost of the N. Wells one.

Topped by Le Meridien Hotel and anchored by Nordstroms, this is THE PLACE to spend a lot! Or to enjoy looking at OTHER PEOPLE spend a lot!

Water Tower Place is a vertical shopping mall that takes it's name from the adjacent Water Tower -- yes the one that survived the Chicago Fire!
.
The picture shows the fountain inbetween the escalator that takes you up to the shops & restaurants.

The "anchor" stores are Marshall Field's & Lord & Taylor. The Ritz-Carlton Hotel is perched on the upper floors.

This is the Crate & Barrel "flagship" store, combining both housewares and furniture. C&B is very popular with young Chicago [as well as around the country]. The design is fresh. The quality is good. And the prices are reasonable.
.
The picture is looking up the open atrium around the entrance/escalator area. The brightly colored material is indicative of the store's style.
What to buy: I've bought everything from a big pieces of furniture to a package of 6 candles here -- it's a great source of well-priced, but stylish tableware & household goods.
.
Their "basics" collection has some really attractively designed items for small prices.
What to pay: Anywhere for a couple of dollars to a couple thousand of dollars;)

We pass by this shop on the corner of LaSalle & Superior Sts. when we are on our way to the galleries in River North, or to Cafe Iberico for lunch. I like its funkiness in the middle of some much urban renovation.
What to buy: Flowers and related items.
.
Be sure to visit their website!
Address: 731 N. LaSalle

Nordstroms/Northbridge
The West coast store, Nordstroms has an outpost on Michigan Ave. as part of the Northbridge Shopping Center. Both are full of expensive trinkets for sure, BUT Nordstroms is justifiably well-known for carrying a good ranges of styles, prices and sizes in shoes.
