  • Daley Plaza [in front of City Hall] -- the famous Picasso is surrounded by Christmas Market booths -- you can see the big tree too!

  • You won't have to watch out for doggy-doo as much as one does in Paris, for example -- but the sight of all those folks with their scoops and plastic bags is a little amusing.

  • The mimes have arrived in Chicago -- reflecting the tradition I have seen myself in Paris & Antwerp.
    .
What is odd about this picture is that the mime [all in silver] looks like a black& white photo in the middle of a color one!

  • There is a greeters group if you don't have a close friend! This is a picture I took of my husband, Niki and a visiting friend from Bulgaria in front of the Art Institute of Chicago -- all dressed for the holidays as you can see!

  • The lions at the Art Institute always sport large red bows during the winter holiday season.
    From the Art Institute website:
The two bronze lions that flank the Michigan Avenue entrance were made for the Art Institute's opening at its current location in 1893. They were a gift from Mrs. Henry Field. They have unofficial "names," which were given by their sculptor Edward Kemeys that are more like designations. You'll notice that the lions are not identical, and thus are named for their poses: The south lion "stands in an attitude of defiance," while the north lion is "on the prowl."

Was scrolling through your food tips, in case you didn't know Skadarlijia is closed, replaced by yet another Mexican restaurant :-( Let me know if you find another good Serbian place, Simplon also bit the dust several years ago...
