The Galichnik Wedding is a traditional Macedonian wedding that occurs each summer in the town of Galichnik [near Mavrovo]. The wedding couple is actually getting married! [and the brides outfit weighs 30 kilos!]

Once a year...

Galichnik has very few year round inhabitants, but the small mountain village comes to life the days of the wedding ceremony.

The couple must apply to participate and preference is given to those of Galichnik ancestry.

The nomad tribe called "Mijaka". They formed Galicnik, which is located on the mountain Bistrica (1250m), above the river Radika. The Mijaka "tribe" is famous for wedding ceremonies and wonderful ethnic clothes! Fantastic:-)
