You CAN see the Roman city of Stobi from the highway probably AFTER you have missed the poorly marked exit! It is about 20 minutes south of Veles.

Stobi is considered the most significant of the Roman sites in Macedonia. It certainly is the biggest! |

The MAIN entrance is not the one you'll use if you are coming off the highway. The museum and guard station are on the other side near the railroad and the river on a local road. Don't worry about buying your tickets -- they will find you:)
