At Stonehenge we were surprised [and pleased] to see how well the path around the site has been devised to provide good clear views minus a background of other visitors. . Two facts emerged from our brief visit: . 1. It is *very* easy to take pictures that make Stonehenge look like a pile of rocks and 2. Seen at midday with a blue cloudless sky Stonehenge looks and feels rather prosaic. . Historically the circle was built sometime between 3,000 and 1,600 B.C.. There is no agreement, however, on its purpose, whether a temple, a burial ground, an astronomy site or ... ???? |
