"It's not Constantinople any more ..." Istanbul by shrimp56
Istanbul Travel Guide: 8,966 reviews and 18,403 photos
I visited Istanbul for a day in the late 1970s as part of a Swans Hellenic Cruise. I remember the mosques, Topkapi, the power lines on the sides of unpainted wooden houses and the beggars/street vendors. After my time in the Balkans and Southeast Asia I imagine I could handle the latter better these days!
I don't have any pictures from MY trip, but my youngest stepson just returned from Istanbul and is sharing his pictures with us. Thanks J.!
.
This is a view I remember though -- standing on one continent and looking over to another .. The pollution looks a bit better than it was back in 1979!
