Grand Palace / Wat Phra Kaew: Visiting the Grand Palace
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: When you do be sure to say "hello" to these two guys :) The one on the right is a Chinese sage at the stairs to the Royal Library. The other gold one is, as far as I can ascertain, guarding one of the temples to one of the King Ramas.
    .
Be sure to have a good map/short guide with you or you will have trouble knowing where you are and what wat you're seeing ;)

Grand Palace / Wat Phra Kaew: Don't miss the details at The Grand Palace!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: One of my favorite buildings at the GP was this one -- no gold or glittering tiles ... but still beautiful crafting. Be sure to look at these details on your visit.

Grand Palace / Wat Phra Kaew: My favorite building at The Grand Palace
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: I like this building more than the gold and glitter ones. The variety of shapes of the tiles and the subtlety of the colors is a real rest for your eyes after all that glitter.

Grand Palace / Wat Phra Kaew: Everything points to the sky ...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: Looking at the tops of the buildings and shrines at The Grand Palace is worth your time -- each spire is different and all are beautiful.

    General Tips: Cooking in Style!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: Please check out the market and cooking class travelogues for more pictures -- what was nice was that the ingredients were pre-measured and laid out for us -- we also had both the regular view of the instructor's table but a wonderful overhead mirror. [Note: the 2 pictures show the ingredients for different dishes.] The cooking class at The Blue Elephant was a genuine highlight of my brief stay in Bangkok!
