Maha Sarakham Travel Guide: 25 reviews and 90 photos
Our group went to Maha Sarakham to visit the university there. This side trip was arranged by one of our group's leaders who had been a guest lecturer at the university previously.
.
We weren't here for the town, but to experience rural NE Thailand in the hands of wonderful Thai hosts.
Our hosts were the storytellers from the university. This group acts out stories & fables in both Thai and English for area schoolchildren.
.
Please see the "Dance" travelogue for the pictures of the dance performance they arranged for us!
We made two stops in the country -- one where they were harvesting rice and one where they were threshing rice. Please see the travelogue for those pictures.

You nearly need to wear earplugs when travelling over there, I struck some "Horn Happy" ones too!
Hi Sally! Thanks for sharing. I 'll visit Mahasarakam next month and your tips help me a lot. : )))
How lucky you were to have such wonderful Thai hosts. Fine photos here on your tips and travelogues.
The better option is Taksila, the new hotel. Like Vasu this is close to the canal but on the other side of the centre. If you want a cheaper option try the trainng hotel in Mahasarakham Rajabhat University.
What fun that must've been! Your travelogue photos are wonderful , they tell a story that needs no words.....W
Hello Sally! What an excellent place on Maha Sarakham! I would love to visit it some day. Beautiful pics and great info. Happy birthday from Finland!
Great shots of amazing Phrathat Nadun. Very good and interesting tips. Haha, I'd love that local takeout!
Great tips and pics!
Wonderful page, Sally! It sure is another world!!
wonderful pics and most interesting tips of an area in Thailand I have yet to visit ... and it seemed that your host WAS right that you liked the spicy chicken, for otherwise you would not have stated that you were "very satisfied" ...
