Getting TO/AROUND: The public transit system (MTA), though we all like to complain about it, is probably one of the best in the world. If you're here more than two days, I recommend you get the weekly unlimited 17 dollar metrocard. This is the best thing Guiliani did for the city. There are also one day 'fun passes' which are also unlimited. This metrocard is good for the bus and subway. If it's your first time in NYC and you want the most bang for your buck, take the bus sometimes. You'll get to see a lot that way. Subway rides can be pretty boring--no scenery! (except the people, of course). My favorite way of getting around New York City is to walk, though, if time permits.
