I'll be honest and say that Rome is far from my favorite place in the world. I think it was too reminiscient of New York City (home)--all the bad stuff (too touristy, too crowded, people were unfriendly). I <i>will</i> say, however, by what I've read on other VT NYC pages, it was probably because I didn't know anyone there and knowing a local will always change your experiences in a foreign place. Especially a big city like Rome.

Also there were a few other things going against Rome, when I was there. First it was at *the* most touristy time of the year. Second, our luggage had been lost, so we were forced to be without our stuff for two whole days, which was very difficult. I wanted my clothes! I wanted my toiletries!

Shopping in Rome was not very pleasant. I found things to be very over priced. This is probably because I didn't really know where to go for the better deals.
