I chose these photos because everyone has pix of the Medina, Market square and souks. I wanted to portray something different. This to me is what Marrakech is all about.

Oh don't get me wrong....I just loved everything about Marrakech, the sights, smells, food and hive of activity....but it was equally nice to get out of the every day busy centre and find the quiet, real Marrakech.

We stayed in a Raid right in the heart of the Medina in Marrakech. It's amazing that right near the hustle and bustle of the souks and market square we could find quiet back streets like this.

Even when we turned the corner and walked down our narrow alley way to our Raid, it's strange how the noise of the busy souks just melted into the cool ambience of architecture surrounding around us.

Hubby and I are glad that we included Morocco and Marrakech in our big Europe trip as we have so many lovely memories of our time here.

No matter how much you prepare before arriving, it's not until you get here and experience it first hand that you appreciate the culture of the place to it's fullest extent.
