Margaret River is a wonderful place to visit. It is the home of some of the best surf in Western Australia. Oh and of course the best wines in Western Australia. So a trip to Perth is not a trip unless you spend a few days in Margaret River.

We have stayed at Prevelly Beach which is about 5 minutes out of Margaret River and also right in Margaret River. If you have a car then Prevelly Beach is good but if not, then you are probably better off staying in Margaret River.

Margaret River is about 3 and half hours drive south of Perth. You can get there also by bus.

Apart from lovely beaches, Margaret River is also well known for Wine Country and produces a mixture of good reds, whites and rose's as well as a couple of unique breweries for beer and cider and also a distillery.

You wouldn't think this was the same beach hey.

The 2013 Big Downunder meet was held here in Margaret River and the weather was not so kind for us. It was wild and windy.

But the surfers were still out. Check out my travelogues for the full story.

Speaking of the Big Downunder VT Meet, we had an awesome time! We had just arrived here after driving through some interesting outback Aussie countryside.

We encountered a random wedding in York, laughed ourselves silly whilst trying to erect the tent in Quairading, saw a big rock that looks like a wave in Hyden, checked out the Dog Cemetery in Corrigin, saw unique tin can horse constructions in Hyden, don't ask what we were doing at the Nudist sign near Borden, we did dune bashing in Albany, nearly got blown off the cliff at Natural Arch in Albany, chased by Llamas in Albany, drank a lot and partied with the owner at a restaurant in Pemberton, chugged along through the forrest in a tram at Pemberton, braved the elements and walked high above the tree tops at Walpole, saw where the Indian Ocean meets the Great Southern Ocean at Augusta.... and much more........

All this whilst running around in the scrub locating some of the most awesome wildflowers. If you have a bit of time after checking out this page, then I encourage you to visit my other pages mentioned above. Every page has some great wildflower pix.

Anyway, enough of the blabbing here. Hope you enjoy my tips and fun travelogues below.

Cheers, Ann.

What a great place to take the family. Lots of things to do and see there. Surfing looks great as does all the wineries.

This area and the large waves must be exiting to see as surfers come rushing into shore. YOu did a nice job of showing the local cultures, and wines is a part of that.

So much to do; such lovely nature scenes; what a find with the house for that price. Great travelogues. Excellent spot for families, and your family seemed to really enjoy it all.
