I moved to Sydney from Brissy with my family when I was 16. It's where I met and married hubby. We didn't like living in a big city so we moved up to the Central Coast - not far up the road. Having said that, although we don't like the fast pace of living in a big city, Sydney really is the top tourist destination in Australia and you cannot go wrong visiting the place.
Sydney has one of the most glorious harbours in the world.
Sydney has so much to see and do.
The blue mountains - 1 hr west has spectacular views.
The Central Coast - 1 hr north has great beaches.
The Hunter Valley is wine country, please check out my Polkobin pages, I'm proud of them :o)
Barrington Tops Guest House is a great Eco-tourist holiday. I have some lovely pix of our holiday there on my Barrington page.
For those with a bit of adventure, hire a car or campervan and travel from Sydney to Brisbane. There's lots of nice beaches and national parks to see along the way.
Have fun on your holiday here.

You can spend a whole day in and around Sydney Harbour. The Rocks is next door for trinket shopping. The Opera House and Botanical Gardens nearby are lovely to walk around. There's buskers and gift shops on every corner. And a ferry ride is simply a must. Here's my daughter on a recent trip to Sydney.
This is the poorer part of Sydney - in the western suburbs. The common form of transport is.......yeh you guessed it :o)
Actually my daughter has this strange affinity with shopping trollies. Sad isn't it.
- Pros:Great tourist destination with lots to see and do.
- Cons:Can be expensive for food and drink if you dine out every night.
- In a nutshell:Sydney - Australia's 'must see' prime destination.

I had a great time in Sydney when I visited two years ago and I hope to be back someday. If only it was closer ...
Well we hope you come back too mate :o) Stay tuned... I am thinking of hosting a first big VT Cruise from Sydney in a couple of years. Maybe you can save for it. Hugs, Ann.
I must say your photos of the Opera House were wonderful! Especially the opening one for your page. Are there many free things to do in Sydney>?

Yes there are a few free things to do - check the list here - travelodge.com.au/travel-gui.... The Botanical Gardens and the Rocks should be on that list too.
