Getting TO/AROUND: Buses are not a problem either. Just know the streets in the general vacinity you want to go to and read the well marked bus timetables at each bus stop.
....And they even have special buses for for those NZ'ers who might get a little home sick :o) ...check out the pic lol.

Getting TO/AROUND: Staying at the Carlton Hotel, we were just across the road from the Raffles City and the City Hall MRT train station. So we used the MRT quite a lot. The lines are colour marked and you purchase your tickets from a machine and get a $1SGD back when you alight.
