"Vibrant Kuala Lumpur" Kuala Lumpur by aussirose
Kuala Lumpur Travel Guide: 5,926 reviews and 13,250 photos
Hubby and I both agree that the hilights of Kuala Lumpur and surrounds are Melaka which is about 2 hours down south and Pulau Tioman, a rustic island off the east coast of Malaysia (less than 1hr flight from KL on
Berjaya Airlines) that has some of the world's best snorkling and diving.
As usual, I write my tips as I enjoyed them with a few stories and laughs in between. My travelogues go into more detail and I endeavour to make my stories interesting and helpful at the same time.
Enjoy :o)
When you think of KL the lovely twin towers come to mind, and yes they are amazing architectural wonders.....but KL has so much more!
We did a couple of day trips and made friends with the locals.....pictured here :o)
Kuala Lumpur also has fantastic shopping. I like to arrive with plenty of room in my suitcase because I always buy clothes and jewelry.
Hubby is always on the lookout for another camera lense bargain.... and KL has a great selection. Pictured here is the Pavilion shopping centre with Chinese New Year decorations. February is the time to come to see this. Red is my favourite colour so I just loved all these decorations :o)
KL can get a bit claustraphobic with high humidity, but not far from town is the lovely Lake Gardens in which you can enjoy walking amidst beautiful landscaped gardens with plenty of tropical shady trees, colourful flowers and pretty ponds. There is a lot to do and see here that will keep you coming back time and time again. We plan to return in December 2013.
- Pros:Friendly natives. Cheap food. Great shopping.
- Cons:Very smoggy and hard to breathe.
- In a nutshell:Vibrant and colourful city with lots to see and do.

Great page Ann! KL seems to a place to see for sure!
Hey sweety. Missing you..... Yes my KL page is a work in progress. We've been there a few times now so I am getting used to the place a bit. When I arrived last time our driver met us at the airport and had some flowers for me. Isn't that nice :o) Anyway... nothing much happening here. Hope all is well with you. Luv xx
What a wonderfully practical page, Ann: prospective visitors couldn't ask for a better resource to help them plan their time in this great (and underrated) city!
In particular, I really admire your ability to seek out great places to eat! :)
Hiay mate. Happy New Year! Yes, looking forward to our visit in Feb. Getting some more work done on our teeth. Should have some more great off the beaten path stories to add :o) Thanks for your comments ;o) xx

Hi Ann! Me in your KL vt meet travelogue. Thank you so much. Haven't been logging in for over a year---ha, ha... It was indeed a pleasure to meet you and the rest. greetings from the Philippines!
Great page Ann! Hope to visit here one day in the future.
Ann, This is a lovely page! We love KL too! Go up the Telecom tower just before dark and stay after, this is what we did for good daylight and night views. Melaka sounds good, haven't been there.
Giverny was a trip highlight. Too bad about Pedro, I was going to try and make it. Sept is awesome in Paris. Karl
Hi Ann, great page about KL! I've been to Malaysia twice, but didn't go to KL... I do agree on Melakka...a beautiful place!
Wow, that Skybridge looks amazing! Love the cute monkeys too, and the firefly trip sounds excellent, as does Melaka. Great that you had a VT meet here too :-)
Bagus(great) that you had such a memorable time in Malaysia! The culinary delight famous in Melaka is the Baba and Nyonya dishes (not baby-which probably was easier to remember). ALOT more to see and do! Glad Tioman Island was nice and groovy too :D
