Off all the cities in Belgium, Brugge is the most touristy one. But for good reason: Brugge could easily pass the test for the title "Most beautiful city in the Low Countries"! Its beautiful medieval charm is unsurpassed!
I'm sure the townspeople from Brugge suffered hard times when the old port of 't Zwin silted up in the 1500's. And fair enough: this town was left for dead right through the Industrial Revolution, but who can complain now? Virtually the entire old city center has been preserved, making it an almost unreal experience to wander around the silent canals and the worn red-brick buildings.
During summertime and festivals, Brugge is a real tourist trap nonetheless, but around the Minnewater and in wintertime it's still as silent and timeless as Brugge can be!
- Pros:Beautiful and beer-infested
- Cons:Buzzing with tourists most of the year
- In a nutshell:Explore this miraculous town early in the morning or late at night!

Brugge is beautiful! I would love to return, spend more time, and see it at night like you did.
Hi Theo, youre on Meet a Member today - thanks for the roam around BRugge, a good refresher of previous visits - the festival/parade of the Burgundys is well worthwhile time to visit.
Wow, i ve never seen such beautuful pictures!
Excellent page and another beautiful city I must visit someday. I'll keep in mind to visit some other time besides the summer, thx!
I think I gotta get my drink on in some place like this. Great reccomendation.
Great tips on a truly beautiful city! (It always annoys me how well the Dutch (YOU, not Brugge!) speak English, when we are so bad at foreign languages! Thanks for dropping by my NZ page!
Theo, your page is not only very helpful but also filled with beautiful photos. I've wanted to visit Brugge for a long time but haven't gotten there yet. Beer tips are excellent.
Wonderful page, Theo! The Rozenhoedkaai picture is especially beautiful. I agree that despite the tourists, Brugge has a unique and enchanting charm.
Excellent Brugge pages with photography to match. A must see for those wanting to visit. Great job.
