Pickpockets: At the time (and we're talking...
  • Tip Rating:
  • At the time (and we're talking 1998 here), I didn't find Jerusalem particularly dangerous, although I was there in a relatively quiet time and things have obviously changed. The mixture of nationalities and religions here is much more diverse than it is in, say, Tel Aviv - to me the Old City appeared less vulnerable to attacks anyway...

One thing is to watch your belongings, especially in the Old Town, as pickpockets are everywhere.

Interesting to see Jerusalem from the eyes of an outsider! The gate in your photo is the Jaffa Gate (next to David's Citadel).

SPOT ON regarding how to arrive at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. I took your tip, suggested it to my lot and we did what you said. A nice build up. November though, freezing cold. Thanks, Ian (and it is tacky, so what? styles come and go.)
