A transit stop here turned into an overnight stay when I missed a connection. I must admit I was bloody scared to start with, and I was surprised to hear 3 Venezualan ladies (who were in the same situation as me) say that they were kinda scared too! Venezuela is hardly the Vatican City! Anyway, we took a trip round the city together and after seeing it, I was actually really reluctant to leave. Its beautiful and its people were really friendly. It is SUCH a shame that it is so dangerous in Columbia. I wondered if it would have made any difference if I had worn a T-shirt clarifying that Im Scottish (rather than people assuming Im American) ;o) |
