I've Been a Tourist here for 30 years!

How lucky we are to have the wonderful FREE Smithsonian museums when we want to play tourist and visit the city. The weather is generally good -- it can get pretty hot -- but there are many trees and garden spots along the mall to cool you off.

Lately we've discovered we can ride our bikes through Rock Creek Park from Maryland all the way to Georgetown and the mall area. On weekends, one of the main roads through the park is closed to through auto traffic, so hundreds of people use it to ride bikes, roller skate/blade, run or just take a lovely walk.

I enjoyed a brief visit to Washington some four years ago, but it looks from this great page that I didn't have anywhere near enough time to see all that's on offer. The festival looks awsome!
