"PICTURESQUE BEAULIEU" Beaulieu by colin_bramso

Beaulieu Travel Guide: 16 reviews and 35 photos

Beaulieu, which is pronounced Bewley, is a very old and picturesque little village on the south coast of England in the New Forest. This is an area set aside by William the Conquerer in about 1079 as a Royal hunting area. I think Beaulieu is one of the prettiest villages in the area, set on the banks of the Beaulieu River.

It's also where Lord Montagu's estate is located, and that houses the National Motor Museum, Palace House, the Montagu family's home, and the Abbey Ruins. This estate is open to the public.

The village High Street has lovely old houses and some interesting shops, a garden centre which is worth looking around, and The Montagu Arms, a fine old pub with bars, excellent restaurants and accommodation.
