"Rural Hertfordshire" Hertfordshire by colin_bramso

Hertfordshire Travel Guide: 521 reviews and 1,741 photos

Hertfordshire is a rural county just north of London, with the short train journey into central London making it commuter country too.

It's dotted with historic towns and villages, Roman remains, old churches and some beautiful countryside. There are plenty of places to visit, including nice old pubs and restaurants.

In my younger days it was my adopted home - I was born in Middlesex but my parents moved to Hatfield, Herts when I was about twelve years old. In fact I represented Hertfordshire at athletics (I was a 100 and 200 sprinter) as a schoolboy.

My family is still in Herts so we visit quite often and I've built individual pages with info and Tips on various places in the county. You can find them under Welwyn Garden City, Welwyn, Ware, St Albans, Tewin, Hertford, Wheathampstead.
