One Of The Largest In Europe...
LUBLIN<<<<<MALBORK>>>>>GDANSK
POLAND
It was big, well that's what I had read. The biggest in Poland, they said.
It looked well-kept because the grass was well-mown. Must be a good tourist attraction this castle.
Remember reading about the castle from my guidebook, impressive.
The train started to move & I bid farewell to the castle; the next time I visit Poland, I shall visit you & we can get acquantance together..
I wonder if it's haunted ?
Malbork is famous for its castle...It is the largest in Poland & also one of the oldest...it is a classic example of a medieval fortress, with its multiple defensive walls, a labyrinth of rooms & chambers...& some of the exquisite decorations...
The castle was included on UNESCO'S WORLD HERITAGE LIST IN 1997.
The History...
The construction of Malbork Castle started in 1274. Since then it was continually build and enlarged, until 1420. From 14 September 1309 till 1457 it was the capitol of Teutonic Knights.
From 1457 till 1772 Malbork was part of Polish Royal Prussia. After the first partition of Poland in 1772 till 1945 it was part of German West Prussia. Since 1945 its been again Polish.
My Lost!!
I didn't stop at Malbork...but just passing thorugh my journey from Warsaw to Gdansk...All the pictures taken by me from the train....except noted otherwise...

I too took pics from the train on my last visit, but didn't have time to visit the old castle. Your pics are so much better than mine.
Wow,amazing...even on the train you could capture such beautiful pictures! Mamamia... You should really check that castle out. It's huge and they conduct tours in english as well. Include that attraction in your next trip!
Ooooops, you missed a beautiful piece of architecture and an interesting piece of Polish history. You should come back and check on Malbork
