..Arriving in this amazing port town from Zagreb
Took the bus from Zagreb about 9 pm & a girl was sitting next to me, flirty & all. I couldn't really assleep 'cos she would be touching my body all over.
Yes, I felt comfortable with that but I needed some sleep as well. C'est La Vie of a traveller.
Anyway, you guys just have to imagine what sin we committed on the bus & I arrived in Dubrovnik in the morning about 8 am & there were some people, mostly old ladies who asked us "Looking for Room ?" in various languages. Just like what my guidebook says.
First, I ignored them, wanted to just go straight to The Youth Hostels. Then, a lady patted my back, tossed me her map & convinced me to stay in her house. I somehow accepted.
Negotiated with her & felt that yes ! I should stay with her. Only 5 minutes walk, she said...
It's not, it's about 6 minutes walk. I looked at my watch all the times when I was following behind her & came to her place, not before, climbing stairs, walked along the pier/harbour. Even here I felt that she must have some nice place for me. I was right.
Checked in, her husband was sitting, smiling, reading the newspaper.
I unpacked, had a nap & went out again....
I decided to walk to the sea. The house/room was in the middle between the sea & the Old Town. Approahed by some girls, smiling at me, not that flirty; & offering me for a boat excursion to Elafiti Islands. Yes ! That's my agenda for the following day...
Walked along the sea & cliffs, walked along Rubin Kuk. Everywhere I saw some nice coves, private coves that we can call our own. Very very beautiful !
Had a swim, chatted with some people & decided to have lunch, hungry.
Took a bus to the Old Town. Had lunch, & went up the Wall, very nice ! I finished circling the whole Old Town & took lots of photos from the wall, overlooking the sea & Dubrovnik town. Amazing ! I could live here.
From here, walked to the Lapad area. Long walk 'cos I decided not to take the bus. Had a swim, secluded bushy areas. Nice people, lying on the rocks, as if the world is theirs & only them living in this world ! I felt the same because the sounds of the sea do make us forget about the woes of this world. Took a swim & realised that my watch stopped ! As if the world had stopped for me, but of course it's not, my stupid watch just stopped functioning, that's all.
Talking with this bus driver who told me some good connections to various places along The Dalmatia Coast.
Chatted with Alen, a Slovene guy who came here for holiday & work.
Walked back with him & we met again at 9.30 pm, in the Old Town. Had drinks, watching the boys & girls, parading themselves. They looked beautiful. As beautiful as their town. "Balkan Beauties" as Alen called them.
Okay, that was Day 1, had a good night sleep....
The 2nd day.
Got up early, walked to see the girls from yesterday again & got in this excursion boat. Not that big, enough for like 20 people; Old men & women, young couples & a lone traveller, me.
Sitting in front of me was this couple from Ireland. Chatting our life, exchanging infos.
This was the excursion to Elafiti Islands which are several islands combined together. Had some stopped on all the islands, each from 1 hour to 3 hours.
Took photos.
Had lunch on the boat, very nice ! Fish, squids, just like what I normally had in my own country but without the rice of course. I wish I could have some there & then. I told the couple sitting in front of me, they just smiled...
Onofrio Fauntains
In Lopud Island..had a good swim....& we were back to Dubrovnik about 6 pm...feeling tired but satisfied.....Nice excursions....Nice sceneries all around....Nice people....& my sandal strap was torn !....Yesterday it was my watch....
In the evening, met up with Alen again..& went to the Old Town again.
The bus was full & I was sitting just by the door.....& asked this pretty girl to stamp my ticket, she just made this sigh '....nobody could see you, might as well you keep this ticket for your next ride...'....intelligent !
....This time, it was full of people, a concert,... banging loud noise....& music from some Croatian famous bands....
It was actually on Croatian National Day ! Wow.....Had more drinks....Feeling good being with a friend, watching people, more people than the previous night...Alen was telling me about the life before war & after the war....Dubrovnik has rises again, we agree !
I took the bus back about 1 am...muissed the stop & had to walk for about 1 hour back to my place....
Had a good night sleep.....

My summary...
Dubrovnik is still cheap compared to other places...not so nice places as Dubrovnik, along the Dalmatia Coast....Dubrovnik is touristy but it is the place where you can have your own private cove !....
This is Croatia number 1 destination....but still, not yet exposed to the whole world just yet...
Be there...!
Beautiful Seaview

MUST SEE...
Definitely a must see in Croatia !
Please do not miss this place because I was enchanted by Dubrovnik & I hope this place will do the same to all of you !...
Stay here for a few days as there are many activisties to be done in & around Dubrovnik...
It's easy for me to find accomodation because there were many old ladies at the bus station, waiting for people to rent their rooms...
Enquire the location first & have a walk with one of them & at the same time, enjoying the sceneries around Dubrovnik !
I have devided my TIPS as follows ;

I was in Dubrovnik this summer, staying in a private room, and the weather was really hot. You give a very accurate description of what it's like to visit.
